This year Ride the River will be exploring our Mississippi River islands. There are special events planned at Campbell's, Sylvan, Arsenal, and Credit Islands. Visit each island to collect the different helmet stickers we will be handing out at each one. There will also be Survivor games at our HQ at LeClaire Park in Davenport. There will be helmet stickers for completing the games in LeClaire Park and for checking out Schwiebert Park in Rock Island as well. Collect four stickers to receive a slice of Streets of Italy pizza at LeClaire Park after your ride. Collect all six and get a nice cool drink as well!

Campbell's Island

At Campbell's Island we will be roasting s'mores over River Action's turtle fire pit. The Daughters of the American Revolution will also be acting out a play about the Battle of Campbell's Island during the War of 1812. The Don Monico food truck will be on site selling food and refreshments to those that come out to the island as well.

Credit Island

Osprey have been recently sighted along area waterways. River Action and the Quad City Audubon Society will be building osprey boxes at Credit Island from 1-3 pm during Ride the River. If you want to get hands on and help build some new homes for birds come down to Credit Island to lend a hand! Trail's End will also have some delicious mexican dishes for sale.

Sylvan Island

The Friends of Off-Road Cycling (FORC) will be on the newly reopened Sylvan Island offering their Mountain Biking 101 class to Ride the River riders. Head across the new bridge and then to the left once you get on the island to learn the basics of mountain biking then you can put your skills into practice on the many trails on the island. Meatheads Meat Market's food truck will be posted up near the bridge with their famous brats on offer.

Arsenal Island

Riders going onto Arsenal Island will proceed along either the bike path or Rodman Avenue (depending on which state you are coming from) to Memorial Park. The Arsenal Grill will be cooking up hot food in the park while our participants write letters to active military under the pavilion. Kids can also check out the tanks in the park and play on the playground.

Helmets are strongly recommended for all riders. They are mandatory for riders under 18. All riders wishing to go on to Arsenal Island are required to wear a helmet. Registered riders can purchase helmets at the event: youth $5; adult $10. The reduced prices are made possible by support from the Quad City Bicycle Club.

Your participation in Ride the River helps River Action fulfill its mission of making the riverfront a healthful and livable environment for all. You could also consider a membership to River Action and enjoy other great events year round.
